We have breakfast in the warmth of the communal tent. According to the GPS, we have 20 km ahead of us, according to the sign in the campsite 15, but after previous experience we don’t trust them much. The sun is shining, and we are only hiking in T-shirts, some even in shorts for a while. We pass through really beautiful places, so we take pictures and a few shoots with a drone. Bridges over rivers and deep canyons. Compared to the north, nature here is wonderfully green and rich, we always have something to look at. In the vote about lunch, the majority (5) won against Vivien, so about half way through, we stop to eat.
After the meal, a ford awaited us, the current was quite strong and the water level so high that the pants had to go. What followed was a fight over my towel, that Vivien wrongfully demanded to use for himself.
A little before the finish we came across a sign that lured us to a cabin with a sauna and a restaurant, but we decided not to splurge and stick to the original plan. After about 1 km we come to a beautiful cottage, surrounded by grassy areas with a view of the glacier.
The only negative about it was the administrator, who, despite the offer of a financial reward, refused to charge at least 1 phone, saying that they have little electricity. Well, she probably assumed that we wouldn’t notice the huge illuminated refrigerator behind her blasting at full power. For setting up our own tent, which we brought on our own backs, we pay 500 CZK/person and the price does not even include a shower, as usual in Iceland. It’s a nice environment for photos, so we eat outside and take a few.
Motivated individuals wake us up at night and lure us to see the polar lights.Getting out of the sleeping bag was harsh, but I have to admit that it was worth it.
