The night was…exhausting. Our backs hurt and we’re all tired. We slept through the alarm, and didn’t get up until an hour later, at 7:00.
It’s raining. We eat breakfast on the floor of common toilets, because it’s the only place where we can hide from the rain and wind. We collect our still wet clothes, tape the blisters and set off. Just a few meters behind the hut, we cross the first river and several others during the day. …
Today’s goal is the Laugafell hut. Actually not the hut itself, but rather the geothermal lake in its immediate vicinity.
In the morning, we tried to get on the road as early as possible, because we had planned 30 km for today as well
It hurt. What you ask? Absolutely everything.
Our breakfast oatmeal marathon starts today.
In the morning, after adding water on top of everything, our idea of a 20 kg backpack went down like a house of cards. My backpack is 23 kg, and it’s not even the heaviest.
2:30 am – our team arrived at the camp in Reykjavík. We build the tents with headlamps and go to sleep right after.
